RTMS comes in two versions: Standard and Enhanced.
The Standard version is included free with your Megger test set. It covers core functions such as ramping, advanced ramping, overcurrent, distance, differential testing, and the ability to create your own test plans.
RTMS Enhanced is a paid upgrade and includes advanced tools such as Frequency Relay testing, Synchronizer, COMTRADE playback, SS1 file conversion, and a Power Swing simulator.
Currently, Megger does not offer a dedicated MMS (Manufacturing Message Specification) testing tool.
For MMS testing, we recommend using tools from companies that specialize in SCADA and RTU systems, as they have the domain expertise to handle MMS protocol complexity. These tools are designed to test IEDs non-disruptively and are backed by years of SCADA development experience.
Megger is actively working toward providing 24/7 IEC 61850-compatible test devices, but only once compliance with IEC 61850-3 (including hardware and EMC requirements) is fully achieved.
IEC 61850-3 compliance ensures that testing equipment meets the demanding conditions required in substations. Until then, we advise checking that any procurement includes IEC 61850-3-compliant devices to avoid integration issues or future non-compliance.
