- Rugged, robust, outdoor field-ready case
The Teleflex SX-1 is a portable two-channel time domain reflectometer (TDR) designed to provide quick, effective, accurate, and safe pre-location of faults in cable installations. It supports all high voltage pre-loaction methods, comes with multi-shot technology with 15 fault traces per arc reflection shot, and can be operated on its own or in conjunction with surge wave generators (thumpers).
You can operate the instrument via a single jog dial and an intuitive software interface on a large, bright, colour touch screen display. This makes operating the unit easy, comfortable, and intuitive and supports the rapid acquisition of accurate results.
What's more, the Teleflex SX-1 enables flexible working as it can be powered by its own a rechargeable battery or it can use the mains supply via a smart charger.

The setup file below is suitable for the installation of both MeggerBook (full version) and MeggerBook Lite (free limited version).
When started with after adding the electronic license key into the installed software, the software starts as MeggerBook full version which allows for easy and comprehensive data evaluation, data archiving, cable management and report creation. A personal quotation for a certain number of licenses can be requested here . The new electronic license key allows for 3 devices to have MeggerBook full version installed on them.
The dongle key licenses from older versions of MeggerBook are not supported with this newer version. Updated electronic license keys can be requested here for previous customers.
Without the required software license key the software starts as MeggerBook Lite which allows for seamless report creation and offers some of the features as the full version while limiting the data storage options as follows:
• Measurements, analyses and reports are not permanently stored in the database
• While cable import and storage are not limited, a maximum of 5 cables can be created using the cable editor of the Lite Edition
At this time, the software can handle the measurement and test data of the following Megger devices:
Test vans: Centrix, Centrix City, Compact City, R30, Variant
Test systems: VLF Sine Wave 45 / 62, VLF CR 40/60, TDS 40/60
TDRs: Teleflex VX(-P), Teleflex SX
Note for test systems VLF Sine Wave 45 and VLF Sine Wave 62:
Data of these test systems can only be imported into the software, if the test systems is equipped with firmware version 3.14 or higher. The latest firmware can be found here (VLF Sine Wave 45) and here (VLF Sine Wave 62).
FAQ / Frequently Asked Questions
Old paper-lead cables pose a big challenge when fault locating due to their different physical construction compared to modern solid dielectric cables. Instead of having to deal with carbon and air like in faulted XLPE- or EPR-insulated cables, PILC cables are made of lapped paper impregnated with mass or oil.Breaking down a fluid insulation medium, igniting and stabilising an arc in a fluid, and capturing useful fault traces with the radar is all far more difficult on paper cables than on solid dielectric cables. In particular, breakdown voltages of high resistance faults may be very high, and low resistance faults do occur significantly more often. To be truly effective on paper-lead cables, the fault location system used must have a high DC hipot, sufficient energy for cap discharge, and a modern TDR. With its 40 kV DC hipot, 2000 Joules at 32 kV and a radar with Multishot and de-attenuation features, the STX40 is well-equipped to be successful in finding faults even on PILC cables.
Occupational safety and safe working conditions are paramount for us and our customers. Therefore, Megger products are designed to be the safest in the market. The STX40 is no exception. The unit meets the strict requirements of VDE 0104. Equipped with a ground loop monitoring circuit (F-Ohm) and a touch potential monitoring circuit (F-U or F-Voltage), STX40 is a milestone and is the portable fault location system with the highest safety standards in the market by far.
