Guard Interconnecting Lead and Strap kit

Variations in wind and sun exposure can cause large variations in surface leakage, effective guarding of all surfaces will greatly reduce variations in measurements.

To ensure all surface leakage current has been diverted through the guard terminal it is important to have complete 360° contact around the insulator or bushing.

The interconnecting test leads supplied in the GILS1 kit are designed to be ideal for high voltage switch yard or similar applications, while the GILS2 adds further interconnecting lead lengths suitable for more generic applications such linking connections on smaller transformers, motors etc.

The effective guarding of all surface leakage paths is essential if you wish to measure the resistance of the actual insulation. Only then insulation resistance be trended accurately over time so that any degradation can be identified and dealt with to proactively prevent equipment failures.
