Europe’s foremost exhibition for power systems experts – CIGRE – took place recently in Paris, France at the Palais des Congrès. For the duration of the event, 8,000 senior executives, experts and specialists had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, to discuss technical developments and innovations, and to network.
The exhibition offered visitors, exhibitors and delegates the opportunity to discover new services, tools, equipment and materials, as well as to find out about the most advanced technologies in the field of power systems.
Megger was one of the participants supporting the CIGRE event. The company demonstrated a new protection relay and substation test system that combines exceptional versatility with rugged reliable construction, portability and ease of use.
In a single compact unit, the new SVERKER900 provides engineers with a comprehensive range of tools that cover all major requirements for single and three-phase testing in distribution substations, renewable power generation installations and industrial applications.
This innovative approach generated a high level of interest from visitors who wanted to learn about the benefits and applications of this new engineers’ “toolbox”.
With 90 % of its attendees coming from outside France, CIGRE welcomed transmission system operators, utilities, distribution system operators, educational bodies and influential decision makers.
The 200 stands presented products such as high voltage equipment, monitoring, control and protection equipment, measurement, testing and diagnostic tools. Electrical power companies and consultants offered a comprehensive display of industry knowledge, training tools and techniques meant to engage and educate visitors.
Apart from the informative stands dedicated to products and services, CIGRE was also a unique opportunity for leaders in the industry to network with each other. More than 300 meetings took place in the five days of the event, making CIGRE one of the largest gatherings of its kind in the world.
For the thousands of delegates, CIGRE proved to be more than a trade show. The seminars and conferences were well attended and focused on topics like rotating electrical machines, transformers, high voltage equipment, cabling issues, protection and power electronics – just to name a few.
This year’s CIGRE has been an opportunity to get in touch with new clients, meet suppliers and develop new business relationships. Exhibitors were able to showcase their newest products and techniques, discuss and network, while enhancing their corporate image and building their brand.
CIGRE 2014 saw an increase from last year’s number of visitors and stands. Furthermore, the event had, for the first time, a fully dedicated working room for seminars and discussions. Premium stands, a press room and a job centre were other new features introduced this year.
CIGRE 2014 is without a doubt one of the most important and best organised trade events in the world. The ever-increasing numbers of participants testify to the important role CIGRE plays for the international power systems industry.
