Geek Challenge III
Following the success and popularity of our previous geek challenges, we’re offering another one. This time it’s a mystery picture – or actually a group of three pictures of the same device.
The picture on the bottom shows it with the lid closed and you can see that it’s quite small – just over 150 mm (6 inches) wide. The left picture shows it with the lid open and the picture on the right is a close-up of the key working parts taken from the back of the device as this gave a clearer view. A little bit of information has been blurred out on the nameplate because it gave rather too much away! The challenge is, as you might expect, to identify this device and explain what it was used for. You want a hint? OK. Granular carbon plays an essential role in its operation. We’re saying no more! Send your answers to [email protected].
The first person to correctly identify the device will win an Amazon gift voucher to the value of $50 US, or the approximate equivalent in Pounds Sterling or Euros, depending on where they live. The next two will win a selection of Megger goodies – that’s mugs and the like, not test equipment - sorry! And when it comes to deciding the winners, the editor’s decision is final. The closing date for entries is 1st May 2021.
