What is the difference between a loop tester and an RCD tester?

A loop tester measures earth loop impedance, helping electricians assess fault current levels and verify circuit protection settings. An RCD tester checks residual current devices (RCDs) by simulating fault conditions to ensure they trip within the required time and current limits. Some models, like those in the LRCD200 series, combine both functions for versatile safety testing.

How does non-tripping loop testing work?

Non-tripping loop testing works by using a special low-current test method that avoids reaching the RCD’s trip threshold.
