Technical Support Group (TSG) training
About the product
Megger’s Technical Support Group (TSG) offers training sessions to electrical engineers and technicians by one of our Applications Engineers. Our team of applications engineers represents years of knowledge and field experience in testing electrical assets and an in-depth understanding of Megger test instruments. This cumulative knowledge ensures that we can provide technical training that suits your needs.
The training can be tailored to your requirements and covers testing theory, instruments’ principles of operation, testing methods, and results analysis. Courses are typically a blend of classroom and hands-on sessions. All training sessions can be held at either a Megger facility or your site.

FAQ / Frequently Asked Questions
We can perform the training at a customer site or any Megger site in the USA. If customer site training is requested, it is preferred to have access to a classroom-type setup with a screen projector. We also encourage the availability of a test specimen to conduct the hands-on session. Plan to use Megger instruments available at your site for hands-on sessions. If not available, test sets can be provided by Megger for training purposes.
Our Technical Support Group (TSG) offers two types of training. The first is instrument-specific training, in which we review an instrument’s operation, use, and functionality (both hardware and software), a hands-on component, and test results analysis. The second type of training is application-oriented, such as battery or transformer field testing. This training focuses on different tests you can perform, the principle and theory behind the testing, best field practices, and how to interpret the test results. We can program the training curriculum based on your requirements for either training type.
We recommend a training group of 6 to 8 people. This smaller ratio of instructor to students allows one-to-one interaction and ensures everyone’s questions get answered. Each trainee will gain hands-on experience with the Megger instruments when test specimens are made available. The ideal number of training days depends on the proposed class size and the instruments or applications for which the training needs to be delivered. For example, with a large group of 20 attendees, we recommend splitting the training into two or more sessions to keep the group size to recommended levels. You can discuss the number of days with the training organiser based on the knowledge and experience level of the group, the complexity of the test instruments, and the testing applications to be covered during the training.
