Insulation resistance, low-resistance (DLRO), and battery testing are critical maintenance practices that ensure the reliability, safety, and operational continuity of data centers. Insulation resistance testing evaluates the integrity of electrical insulation in cables, switchgear, and battery systems, helping to prevent leakage currents, electrical faults, and energy losses. DLRO testing measures the resistance of critical electrical connections, including busbars, cable terminations, parallel feeds, and protective device contacts, enabling the detection of poor connections that can lead to overheating, inefficiencies, or equipment failure. Battery testing, including impedance, intercell connection, and strap resistance measurements, assesses the health and readiness of UPS and backup power systems, ensuring dependable power delivery during outages.
These tests are conducted during commissioning, routine maintenance, and following repairs to verify system performance and compliance with operational standards. In his current role, Jaime primarily focuses on the areas of substation applications and diagnostic testing techniques with emphasis on power system reliability and asset management. Jaime is a father of three children. He likes to play music in his spare time. His main instrument is the guitar, and he also loves to ride his Harley Davidson.
