Condition Assessment of Insulation in Rotating Machines
Testing Tactics Webinar
- Friday 21 August, 2026 - Friday 21 August, 2026
- ONLINE
The health of the insulation system in AC rotating machines is closely linked to their reliability and service life. This webinar provides a practical overview of winding condition assessment techniques, beginning with the insulation structure and a comparison of insulation aging mechanisms versus localized defects commonly found in motors and generators.
The session includes a brief overview of key diagnostic methods, including Polarization Index (PI), Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR), Power Factor (PF), Partial Discharge (PD), and Surge Testing, along with practical examples using Baker and ICM Neo test equipment.
The webinar will also compare surge testing and conventional PD testing, highlighting the strengths, limitations, and applications of each technique for identifying insulation defects.
Real-world testing and monitoring examples will demonstrate how multiple diagnostic methods can be combined to improve maintenance decisions, reduce unexpected failures, and extend machine service life.
