Redesigned in their entirety after a detailed analysis of user requirements, the new range of oil test sets from Megger sets new standards for performance, ease of use, reliability and value for money. The new OTS range includes laboratory instruments for testing up to 100 kV, and portable instruments – including the world’s lightest oil test sets in the 60 kV and 75 to 80 kV ranges.
At a series of free events being held throughout the UK, test equipment expert Megger is providing electrical contractors with information and novel ideas that will help them to expand the range of services they provide and generate more income.
With the new and patented GOOSE Message Interface from Megger, it is now possible to use existing conventional test sets for testing protective relays and other items of substation equipment that communicate via the IEC 61850 networking protocol. The new interface makes possible big savings, as there is no longer a need to purchase costly new test equipment for networked substations.
MFT1553 On–site helps more electricians with the 17th Edition certification
Contractors using the Bluetooth® MFT1553 which downloads test results direct to 17th Edition certificates running in PowerSuite On–site on their laptop, PDA or smart–phone are saving hours making out certificates at the end of the day.
The “Business in a Box” is a new and innovative product which has been specifically developed to make it as easy as possible for electrical contractors to generate extra income.
Megger’s new KC series of test leads, which were developed in conjunction with leading manufacturers of wind turbines, provide a complete and convenient solution to the problem of finding reliable test leads that are long enough to be used for testing the continuity of lightning protection conductors in wind turbine blades.
An ideal choice for electrical contractors who offer portable appliance testing (PAT testing) alongside other services, the new PAT320 testers from Megger combine convenience and ease of use with rugged construction and very competitive pricing.
The new 17th Edition of the wiring regulations is due to be implemented on the 1st June 2008. There are a significant number of changes, additions and deletions, both big and small. By ensuring the manufacturer states the instrument meets this standard and you cannot go far wrong. And of course Megger testers all meet the requirements of the 17th Edition.
One of the smallest and most rugged instrument of its type, Megger’s new FRAX 150 sweep frequency response analyzer (SFRA) is a powerful tool for revealing potential electrical and mechanical problems in power transformers, many of which are difficult or impossible to detect using other methods.
MPRT Now Capable of Testing IEC 61850 Relays and Substations. IEC 61850 is the new international communication standard for substations. The main goal of 61850 is to obtain interoperability between different protective devices from different vendors. IEC 61850 has many benefits and one of these is replacing the traditional copper wiring with Ethernet/Fiber cables. This means no more binary inputs and outputs for control and protection functions. The traditional method of tripping a breaker via a contact will be replaced by a GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented Substation Events) messages sent via Ethernet or fiber optic cables. One of the major challenges currently facing 61850 is defining testing procedures, how is a 61850 device supposed to be tested and what is required in order to test these devices?
Equally at home in the laboratory, the workshop or in the field, on the bench or on the ground, Megger´s new heavy duty DLRO10HD low resistance ohmmeter combines rugged construction with accuracy and ease of use. It features an internal rechargeable battery and can also operate from a mains supply, even if the battery is completely flat.
Enhanced testing safety, even in demanding applications, is offered by the latest versions of the MIT and S1, 5 kV and 10 kV Megger insulation testers. All models now meet the requirements for use in CAT IV 600 V applications, in line with IEC 61010–1.
With six independently controlled current outputs, the new FREJA 306 protection relay test set from Megger provides an easy to use and economical solution for testing protection relays, including differential types. To further enhance its versatility, the FREJA 306 features extended Hi Current outputs, rugged construction and a wide operating temperature range, making it ideal for field use.
Megger is pleased to introduce a new series of three–phase Transformer Turns Ratio test sets. The new TTR300 series consists of four models, each with its own unique, state–of–the–art communications and data analysis tools.
Three exceptional new insulation and continuity tester ranges
Rugged enough to withstand the toughest of environments, Megger´s new insulation testers are compact and allow easy one–handed operation with either hand. They also fully meet the requirements for Cat IV 600V.
Featuring compact construction and straightforward operation, Megger’s latest EGIL circuit breaker analyser is suitable for testing timing and travel on all breakers that have a single interrupter per phase. In addition, when used in conjunction with the SDRM option and the new SDRM201 accessory, the instrument can also be used to carry out static and dynamic resistance measurements.
Housed in a rugged compact case that makes it ideal for use in the field, the MIT30 offers continuously variable output voltage from 0 to 30 kV with test currents up to 330 µA. The maximum output voltage and current can be achieved simultaneously, which allows fast charging of capacitive test pieces, thereby significantly reducing testing times.
Improved convenience and versatility are among the key benefits of the latest range of digital earth resistance testers from Megger, which has now been extended to include a new model powered from rechargeable batteries and versions with variable test frequency.
Megger’s SVERKER 760 protection relay test set can now optionally be ordered with a rugged protective case that makes it even easier and more convenient to store, transport and use. The case, which is constructed entirely from non-conductive materials, incorporates a robust hinged carrying handle, and is also fitted with an second extendable handle and wheels, allowing it to be moved around easily and with a minimum of effort.
